Similar Work differs from 'Earlier Work' and 'Later Work' because it is not a citation tracking tool exactly.
Similar Work functions by looking at the seed papers provided and identifying potentially similar research articles and topics.
Hence, it is not using the citations/references of the seed papers but rather examining the reference information for points of comparison to recommend relevant resources.
This feature is a main reason Research Rabbit claims to be the 'spotify of papers', it learns preference and identifies interesting articles according to the chosen papers.
When Similar Work is selected, a column of similar work results will open next to the pop up tool menu.
Each of the similar results will have reference information available including the title, author, date, and abstract which can help users decide if the resource will be useful for their research.
As with Earlier Work and Later Work, resources found in Similar Work can be made a seed paper by adding it to a collection.
To add the selected resources as a seed paper look at the pop up tool menu to the right of the resource information.
There are two options for adding the selected resource as a seed paper.
Furthermore, you can peform citation tracking actions on the selected resource.
Similar to how the selected resource was discovered, you can Explore Papers through 'Similar Work', 'All References' or 'All Citations'.
The 'All Citations' option can also be very helpful when a resource is discovered through Similar Work because it can help to determine the popularity of the study.
The more a study is cited, the more likely it is a useful and reliable source.
When 'All Citations' is selected, another column will open to the right and show the resources that have cited the chosen article in Similar Work.
These citations can also be browsed, opened, and citation tracked, giving the user access to even more potentially relevant sources.
ResearchRabbit will keep opening columns to the right of the current selection for as long as the user would like. Columns and tool boxes can be closed and scrolled as the user needs.
