Citation Tracking: Citation Tracking Explained

Learn to track, manage, and leverage research using citation tracking tools

What is citation tracking?

Citation tracking is the process of following references and citations between academic works to understand how ideas and research are connected over time.

Almost every scholarly publication sits within a web of other works; it cites earlier studies that informed it, and in turn may be cited by later studies that build on or respond to it.

Citation tracking is a way of discovering the broader scholarly conversation and understanding how research ideas have evolved.
