How to use Mendeley

✦ Adding references

✦ Organising your library

✦ Annotating resources

✦ Cite While You Write (CWYW)

✦ Sync, collaborate and backup

Before you get started with Mendeley, you first need to sign in/create an account.

The good news is, as CDU staff and students, you have access to the premium version of Mendeley (Mendeley Institutional Edition). All you have to do is login in using Elsevier and authenticate with your CDU account.

Check out the steps below to see how.

Step 1:

On the Mendeley homepage select 'Create account' from the options in the top right-hand corner.

Step 2:

You will be given two options: enter your email or 'sign in via your organisation'. Choose the second option to use the institutional account access.

Step 3:

Search for your organisation (Charles Darwin University) in the search box.

Step 4:

Click the link for 'Confirm your institution'. This will send you through to a CDU OpenURL authenticator. If you have not recently logged in on this browser, you may need to log in to authenticate.

Step 5:

Explore Mendeley online or download the desktop software.
