Strategic Publishing : Open Access Agreements

Open Access Publishing Agreements

Negotiated by the Council of Australasian University Libraries (CAUL) Consortium, University-wide Open Access agreements (also called "Read and Publish”) enable authors to publish their articles in selected open access journals immediately upon acceptance for publication, free of individual article processing charges (APCs). Please see the list below for publishers that CDU has agreements with in 2025.

To be eligible to publish as part of these agreements you must:

  • be a CDU or Menzies staff member or Higher Degree by Research student
  • be the corresponding author
  • have Charles Darwin University as your primary affiliation
  • use your Charles Darwin University email address (@cdu.edu.au or @menzies.edu.au)
  1. Open this list and filter for 'Charles Darwin University'
  2. Browse available journals and choose one to submit to
  3. Read the relevant terms and conditions
  4. Submit to the journal using your CDU/Menzies email address and CDU/Menzies as your byline/affiliation
  5. Your article progresses through the usual publication process, including peer review
  6. You will be notified that your article has been accepted
  7. Select option to publish OA with no APCs
  8. Article is published direct to OA

Contact askthelibrary@cdu.edu.au if you need any assistance.

WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION ON INDIVIDUAL TITLES INCLUDED IN THE 2025 AGREEMENTS

The CDU has agreements with the publishers listed below. Note that publishers may not include all titles in their agreements. For details on specific requirements for each publisher, please use individual publisher links below or go to the CAUL website.

* Indicates agreement has a yearly publishing cap. If you have an article accepted after the publishing cap has been reached you will be notified that an APC is payable to publish open access.
