Specific requirements apply to ARC and NHMRC funded research regarding open access, funding source acknowledgement, copyright and licensing and reporting as detailed in their respective Open Access Policies.
What does this mean?
Publications arising from funded research must be deposited in an open access institutional repository within twelve months from the date of publication.

Any Research Output Published in respect of ARC Funded Research must be made Openly Accessible within a twelve (12) month period from the Publication Date and must include acknowledgement of ARC funding and the ARC Project ID.

NHMRC requires that any publication arising from NHMRC supported research must be deposited into an open access institutional repository and/or made available in another open access format within a twelve (12) month period from the date of publication.

Metadata: Metadata for all Research Outputs arising from ARC Funded Research must be made available to the public in an Institutional Repository as soon as possible but no later than three (3) months from the date of Publication of the Research Output.

However, the publisher's policy on open access will determine which version should be deposited.
What about copyright?
There may be legal or contractual reasons that limit complying with the mandate. The NHMRC and ARC are aware that initial compliance may be affected by pre-existing publishing agreements and the policies provide advice in this case.
CDU Library will check that records in eSpace comply with publishers’ requirements for providing open access to either published or manuscript document versions.
